Bryden & Minors Ltd. was established in 1972 as a result of a merger between two well-known businesses, A.S. Bryden & Sons (Barbados) and Gerald S.W. Smith & Co. Ltd. (GSWS).  In 2004, Ansa McAl acquired Brydens in Barbados, and therefore now own the Brydens shares (33 1/3%) in Bryden & Minors Ltd. B&M Ltd. has diversified over the years and now consists of 4 divisions that are spread over 7 properties and include over 35,000+ square feet of warehouse and retail space.
